It's been a while since I've created a new video for my YouTube channel so thought I better get onto creating one.

This pic was taken in 2014 at Hartnett House Children's Centre. It's the child care centre where I did my final placement for my diploma in Children's Services and went on to be an early childhood educator for 14 years.
For those who don't know, I actually fell in to my role as a music educator. We had an incredible music educator named Anton. He taught me how to play the ukulele and exposed the children to many instruments and created wonderful musical memories each week. When he retired, we found it really hard to find a music program that suited our centre and after trying many companies, my director asked if I would like to give it a try. As a trained performer, I jumped at the opportunity and after a couple of years of continuing to work as a educator whilst running a weekly music session in each room, I decided that this is what I wanted to do forever so branched out to other centres and the rest is history.
Although I no longer bring my music to Hartnett House, it will always hold an important place in my heart.

The knight Song was written for a little man named

The knight Song was written for a little man named Wolfram who always had carboard shields and swords. During his session at Dawson st around 9 years ago, he requested a song about knights and dragons but I couldn't find one that was suitable so created one just for him.
This is a great experience for practicing Gross motor skills through swinging our arms back and forth and stepping forward and backwards, cognitive skills through listening to and following the instructions, numeracy skills through counting one step forwards and one step backwards, Expressive and receptive language through listening to and singing along to the lyrics and social skills by holding hands with the others in the group and working together as a team as the circle closes in and opens up again.

I use a felt board as a part of my daily program to enhance engagement for the visual learners in the group and after 13 years of use, it was looking a little worse for wear.
On Friday, someone mentioned that it was time for a new one but as I try and be sustainable where possible, I decided to see if I could de fluff it with my electric depiller and it's come up a treat.
I can't wait to see if the children notice this week.
